- Report immediately to your Embassy or Consulate as well as with other migrant organizations and civil society groups or to the police; seek guidance from them on the best approach against the employer or recruiter
- Have a medical or physical examination; the medical report will be useful in claiming damages from your employer
- File formal criminal or civil charges against the employer or the abuser/exploiter
- Secure all documents that will support your claim; have duplicate copies of these
- If need, seek counseling or psycho-social assistance from CSOs or migrant organizations
Manual complain procedure
- In country of destination a person can submit a written complaint in labour attaches with relevant document.
- After receiving complain labour attaches send the complain to ministry of expatriates, welfare and overseas employment and BMET.
- BMET arrange a sitting with complainant and recruiting agency and after examine all the documents if found guilty then recover the money from recruiting agency.
- If the recruiting agency fail to submit the money then BMET send the documents to Ministry for final decision.
- Family member of the migrants allow to represent the case in absence of him.
Online complaint procedure
- A person can directly file a complaint though online using internet connection
- At first need to go to www.ovijogbmet.org website
- Need to fulfill basic information’s
- Describe the incidents
- Relevant document needs to submit in the form of scan copy
- Then submit the complain
- After submitting the complaint, a pin number will be provided to complainant
- This pin number will be helpful to check the status of the complaint
